Rebecca Vasmant's 8 Piece Ensemble formed following the sell out Album ' With Love, From Glasgow ' released earlier this year, comprising of world class Scottish musicians from the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra as well as Amanda Whiting of Jazzman Records / Gondwana. Through the ethereal, floating textures, the music tells a love story to Scotland, and the wonderful talents happening in the beautiful country.
'With Love, From Glasgow' received international acclaim and press, including Album Of The Week from Jazz Fm, BBC Radio 6,Worldwide FM and many more, as well as reaching the top ten position in the International Jazz Album Charts, and was sold out everywhere on vinyl, in advance of the full Album being available for pre-listen.
Rebecca explains: “There is such crazy wealth of talent in this city of Glasgow and I wanted to make an album that helped to demonstrate this and which captures my own love and passion for deep and spiritual music. This album highlights just some of the exciting things that are happening here in Scotland and it's been a real honour and pleasure working with the hugely talented musicians who came together to collaborate in such a free and beautiful way. During the time spent working on this music an amazing family formed, something for which I am so grateful.”
The tracks are very personal to me. They tell stories of life, of the thoughts that exist inside my head. I hope they resonate with those who hear them. The record is a jigsaw that brought us together as the catalyst in forming so many lifelong friendships.”
“Without musicians, there would be no music, and without friendships there would be no life. From Glasgow, with love.. Rebecca Vasmant”
